Medical computer scientist in the personalised oncology

The University hospital of Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) combines international frontier science with interdisciplinary healthcare. We are the only maximum supplier and biggest employer of the state. Our more than 13.000 employees ensure a very individual healthcare – essential for the citizens of Schleswig-Holstein.

Since September 2018 cancer patients at the UKSH without further therapeutic options are presented in a molecular tumour board (MTB) with the purpose to develop a personalised therapy using enhanced clinical diagnostics, sequencing and bioinformatics.
We cooperate in an interdisciplinary project with the Medical-Informatics Consortium (MIRACUM) to implement standardised methods quality control and scientific databases for molecular and clinical interpretation.

To support this project we are currently looking for scientific research assistants who would like to participate in an interdisciplinary team at the IT Center for Clinical Research Lübeck ( ITCR -L ) of the Clinic for Oncology and the group Medical Systems Biology of the UKSH.
During this project you will get the option to acquire a PhD in the field of machine learning and personalised medicine.

Your start in our team

Join our team and support us as soon as possible, starting with a two-year contract.

  • Implementation and  quality control  of data and analysing processes in the MTB using the standards of the MIRACUM
  • Integration and visualisation of results in existing scientific databases as well as their attachment to the scientific and clinical IT infrastructure of the UKSH
  • Integration and data security concepts in communication with the data security officer of the UKSH and UzL
  • Evaluation of the MTB platform in regard to therapy recommendations and clinical outcome
  • A master’s degree in (Medical -) informatics or an equivalent degree
  • Knowledge in the field of bioinformatics as well as general knowledge in software development and database applications
  • Interest in the field of oncology and sequencing, like tumour biology, whole exome sequencing, transcriptome analysis
  • Good organising, communication and team skills
  • Interest in the combination of IT development with scientific working, as well as traveling and participation in national research groups focusing on oncology
  • High motivation and the capability to work structured, responsible and independently
  • Payment regarding pay group E13 TV-L, if all requirements are fulfilled
  • Full time job (38.5 hours a week), half time working can be negotiated
